Frog! Jelly! You pair of silly billies!
When our author said the blog might get a bit patchy, she didn't mean PATCHWORK PATCHY! She meant she might not be able to do it everyday because we are all moving house very soon! You've got patches stuck all over you! It's REALLY RIDICULOUS!
Children, don't worry. I'll soon get these patches off, while you go and read a nice book, or perhaps you want to go and play outside for a while?
We won't be here for two weeks, but the blog should be back in the middle of June, the week beginning the 12th.
We shall be busy moving into our new house, and getting our new office ready, and of course playing on the beach! Our new house is VERY near the beach, so we will be down there every day paddling our paws and collecting shells. There's lots of fish there too - yum!
I have to go now - before Ginger Jelly gets stuck to anything else! See you soon, don't forget to come back and see us when we have moved!

This Frog Blog is getting a bit patchy!

Hi Everyone!
Have you noticed this blog is getting a bit patchy??
There is so much going on at my house that it's getting hard to blog!
Sometimes the boring world of real life (what ever THAT IS!) gets in the way of some good cartoon fun, so we all have to wait nicely whilst the boring old stuff is sorted out, and we can take over the computer once again!
So! Don't worry if we aren't here now and again, we shall be back! While you are waiting you could go and have some fun on our wagsite - www.frogthedog.com
See you there!

Growing Beans 3 - I've got beanstalks!

Hi Everyone,
I've got giant beanstalks growing in my greenhouse!
These runner bean plants are just growing and growing - they'll be bigger than me soon!

I planted the runner bean seeds in a plug tray on the 1st May. Plug trays have small round places to put the seeds, and you can easily just put one seed in each space, so it helps you space out your seeds. We got second hand plug trays from the garden centre for just 30p each! Wot a bargain!

We filled the plug tray with our potting compost, popped a bean seed in each one, and covered it up, so it could have a nice warm cosy snooze while it got ready to grow. There are lots of different sorts of runner beans, the ones we have are called "Blue Lake".

Then we carefully poured over just enough water to make the compost damp.

Then we put a label in saying "Runner Beans" because we were planting LOTS of seeds, and we knew we wouldnt remember which ones were in which tray.

Then we put the plug tray in our little greenhouse. We bought our greenhouse in the sale last autumn, so it only cost £10.00 instead of £20 - ANOTHER bargain!
It has a plastic frame that clips together, four shelves and a plastic cover that zips up the front!

Some plants take a LONG time to grow, some plants can grow very quickly. You can find out how your seeds like to be planted and when on the back of the packet, so you know how long you will have to wait for your seeds to pop up and say hello to you. That's called "germination time". Our beans were supposed to take two weeks to geminate, but they popped up after ten days!! They must have liked me singing to them.

When your little seedlings look big and strong, you can plant them out into your garden. We are going to put ours in grow bags next. We are going to put broken egg shells around them to help keep away the sluggies who love nibbling little plants (they must be very tasty!).

Soon we will have to put some canes for the runner beans to grow up, but if you want to can let them grow on the ground, but you don't get so many beans that way. When they are growing up their canes, they will make flowers; The more flowers you have the more beans you will get! The beans should be ready to pick in July, so it only takes about three months to grow a little seed into a big beanstalk that has beans on that you can eat - that's JELLYNORMOUSLY FROGTASTIC!
I have to go now - all this gardening has made me feel a bit peckish!

Frog the Baldster 2

Huh, Everyone, you can see I got caught by the BIG scissors!
There is old hairy handsome me, and here is very strange new haircut me. Where has all my lovely hair gone?? It feels very strange when I shake myself too. But that isnt the worst thing. Have YOU ever had a haircut when your friends laughed because it looked different. Not BAD, just DIFFERENT?? Or perhaps you've been the person LAUGHING because your friend's new haircut looked funny and different?
Well, everyone is laughing because now I don't look like handsome old Frog, I look like a plush puppy! They keep saying "Keep your hair on, Frog!" It's not fair, is it? It's not my FAULT that my hair kept falling off on everyone and on the carpet. It's not my FAULT that I need a shower when I've been for a muddy walk, or have been playing on the beach, is it? Anyone would!
Here's your chance to vote for the Frog hair look you like the best. Then i'll KNOW who my friends are!
I have to go now; not keeping my hair on is making me very hungry....
which is YOUR fave?
handsome hairy frog?
new plush puppy frog!

Growing Beans 2

Hi Everyone, it's me, Green Fingers Frog!
My beans are growing!! My bean sprouts are sprouting!!
When I looked in the little greenhouse yesterday tea time, there THREE little shoots poking up their little heads above the soil. It was so exciting!
This morning, there are ELEVEN!!!! Colly my wobbles, and call me custard, that's FROGTASTIC!!
AND...the carrots have popped up too! there are LOADS of those wavng their little green bits about just above the surface.
We are having such lovely sunny weather it has made them all feel like coming out to see me, and I've been watering them regularly and singing to them every day, so they couldn't stay underground any longer!
Now we have to buy a grow bag to plant then out in to help them grow a bit bigger. We aren't putting them into the ground yet in case Jack Frost comes to have a nibble.
I have to go now, I want to watch them grow some more!

Quick, I'm hiding!

Hi Everyone,
I can't stop, I'm hiding from Bimmy! Have you seen those huge scissors she's got to cut my hair with??
And it's not JUST a haircut - I have to have a bath too!! Yikes!!
Does YOUR Mum cut your hair for you? Or do you go to the hairdresser?
I don't know which is worse: your Mum cutting it badly, or the hairdresser cutting it badly!
What do you mean, it might not be a bad haircut?? I'm very attached to my hair, any kind of cut is bad!
It's not my fault it falls out on the carpet, and gets on everyone's clothes!
I really really have to go before she catches me - byeeeeee!
Love, Frog X PS: Don't tell Bimmy which way I went, will you??

Frog the Baldster!

Hi Everyone, it's me, Bimmy!
Today I am being Bimmy the Barber - and Frog is getting his haircut!
The trouble is, whenever I get near him with my BIG hair cutting shears, he runs away - I don't know why, I'm very good at cutting hair!
He doesn't like having his hair brushed at all. He moans and groans like a very moany groany thing all the time I'm brushing, and I'm REALLY gentle!
You can't tie a dog's hair up in bunches to keep it out of the way, though I did plait his tail once - very smart! He'll feel much cooler when it's done - I just have to catch him first! Does anyone want to come and sit on him while I do it?

No Sunflowers Yet!

Hi Everyone!
I have just been checking my sunflowers, but I can't see them yet. I've checked all the pots, the soil is nicely damp, and the sun is shining on them, so I'm sure they are happy, but they are still fast asleep - I'm sure I heard at least one of them snoring!
I'm singing to them evey day, so that when they DO pop up, they'll know that I love them and want them to grow big and strong.
I'm growing some other things too! I've planted some pumpkin seeds - they were HUGE! It'll be great to have a giant pumpkin to make a pumpkin lantern for hallowe'en! Cool. I'm growing some peppers so we can eat them and some carrots and runner beans! OOO! I can't wait for them to all start growing!
I have to go now - they need another song.

Half Marathon in aid of Water Aid - please help!

Hi Everyone, it's me, Obi-Sven, again!
I think you know that I like to keep clean. I'm ALWAYS washing my whiskers, and I am ALWAYS telling Jelly to wash his! It's important to have nice clean water to drink, and a clean place to go to the toilet, and nice clean dishes to eat your dinner on, isn't it? Not everyone had those nice clean things, and we want to help them.
Our Special Friend Vanessa Jones (who is a little bit like Coco who looks after me) is running in a Half Marathon to raise some money to help Water Aid.
We LOVE having lots of lovely fresh clean water - in this country we don't have to worry about dirty water making us ill, it just comes out of the taps all ready for us to drink and wash in, and it's all safe and lovely.
We are very worried about children and grown ups in places that don't have nice clean water coming out of taps. It makes them very ill, and lots of children die because of it.

If you want to find out all about Water Aid and how they help people, you can go to their website http://www.wateraid.org/uk/ here is a little bit from their website:

WaterAid believes that together water, sanitation and hygiene education provide the key to poverty reduction. By focusing on projects that combine these three elements, health benefits are maximised and the results are long lasting and wide reaching.
Water and sanitation related diseases kill a child every fifteen seconds.
By providing clean drinking water and a safe environment in which to use the toilet these deaths can be reduced.

If you want to sponsor Coco, I mean Vanessa, to do a whole Half Marathon, (!) that's thirteen and half miles of running, not a whole big choc bar of munching (!!), then you can go to her sponsor page here:www.justgiving.com/vanessaj - that would be obi-sven-kenifferously FROGTASTIC!!
Even just a little bit of money DOES help - because lots of little bits of money put together makes a BIG bit, so it would be great if you could add even just a bit - THANK YOU!!
See you soon!
Love, Obi-Sven. XX
